XPENG’s “Land Aircraft Carrier” Completes First Public Flight

At Airshow China 2024, which took place in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, Chinese electric vehicle firm XPENG demonstrated a significant breakthrough in transportation technology with the public flight debut of its ‘Land Aircraft Carrier’. This ground-breaking flying vehicle, which blends air and road travel, has already received more than 2,000 orders, pushing the limits of mobility and generating significant public attention.

The Unique Dual-Element Design

The “Mothership” and the aircraft are the two separate components that make up the “Land Aircraft Carrier.” The main vehicle is the Mothership, a sizable three-axle carrier equipped with XPENG’s unique Kunpeng EREV (extended-range electric vehicle) drivetrain and constructed on an 800V chassis. The Mothership can travel up to 1,000 km in hybrid mode owing to its platform. With a strong power supply and a 5.5-meter length, it provides a flexible driving experience on roadways while combining hybrid and electric efficiency.

Transforming from Road to Sky

The aircraft that is concealed inside the mothership and can be instantly deployed at the touch of a button is one of the most notable aspects of the XPENG flying automobile. Built for short flights on a single battery, the aircraft has a two-person cabin and looks like a big drone. With the mothership offering quick recharging, the aircraft can currently fly five to six times on a single charge. Housed inside the mothership, the aircraft’s battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 18 minutes, guaranteeing effective power management for smooth transitions between ground and air modes.

A Vision for the Future

The “Land Aircraft Carrier” by XPENG seeks to revolutionize personal transportation by providing customers with the mobility of both air and ground travel in a single vehicle. The success of this presentation at Airshow China 2024 has demonstrated XPENG’s contribution to the advancement of this cutting-edge technology and the growing public interest in flying vehicles.

XPENG Flying Car Release Date

The “Land Aircraft Carrier,” XPENG’s ground-breaking flying vehicle, is scheduled to release in 2026. Interest has increased after its successful public flying demonstration at Airshow China 2024, and more than 2,000 pre-orders have already been placed. The price of this cutting-edge car, which combines air and road capabilities, will cost 2 million yuan, approximately $280,000.
