Usman Qadir quits international cricket as he announced his retirement on social media accounts. The 31 years old leg spinner thanked everyone for their support during his career as he announced the news on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. Gratitude for a Memorable Journey. Usman has represented Pakistan in twenty-six matches including twenty-five T20I’s and one ODI.
Usman Qadir gave an ardent reflection on his cricketing life and acknowledged his joy at having represented Pakistan internationally in his retirement post. “I’m appreciative of my coaches’ and teammates’ support; they’ve stood with me through thick and thin. Representing my nation has been an amazing privilege,” he remarked. He also emphasized the special times he had spent with his team, the triumphs and setbacks that he felt impacted his life and career.
A Tribute to His Father’s Legacy
Usman promised to carry on his father’s legacy. His father, one of Pakistan’s best spin bowlers, the late Abdul Qadir, left behind a significant legacy. “I will carry on that legacy as I begin this new chapter, clinging to the invaluable lessons he taught me as well as my love of cricket,” Usman added. Even after his playing days are over, Usman’s identity is still heavily impacted by his father’s impressive career.
The Final Chapter of a Short Career
During his little over two-year international career, Usman Qadir claimed 32 wickets, 29 of which came from his 25 T20I matches. With a bowling economy rate of 7.95 in Twenty20 Internationals, he left a lasting impression despite his short tenure with the Pakistan national side. Although he didn’t play for Pakistan again until 2022, he continued to play cricket domestically, most recently with the Dolphins in the Champions One-Day Cup.
Looking Ahead to New Challenges
Usman expressed his gratitude to his fans for their consistent support throughout his career while he thought back on his choice. Now that he is at a new stage of his life, inspired by his father’s beliefs, he hopes to continue being involved in the game he loves. The core of Pakistani cricket and the priceless moments we had are with me. “I want to thank you for everything,” he added.
Usman claimed that Hafeez’s resistance to his choice hindered the advancement of his profession.
